MUSEUM ISLAND
BERLIN!

#mi200

Blick auf Museumsinsel. Ein Gebäude der Insel spiegelt sich im Wasser davor.

Museum Island Berlin is an icon and a world star. Its success story began exactly 200 years ago with the construction of the Altes Museum. To mark the anniversary, the unique museum quarter will be celebrated for five years – with exhibitions, events, open-air presentations, concerts and activities for everyone. The celebrations will kick off with a festival weekend at the beginning of June 2025. In summer, Berlin’s most beautiful open-air bar – the Kolonnaden Bar – will return, the UFA Film Nights will enchant with cinema magic and the Long Night of Museums will entice visitors with a special programme. The entire spectrum of Museum Island is on display in the major special exhibitions:

„Grundstein Antike. Berlins erstes Museum“ (Foundation Stone Antiquity. Berlin’s first museum) from July will shed light on the beginnings of the Museum Island. From November onwards, the exhibition „Mythen in Stein. Göbeklitepe und die Welt der letzten Jäger“ (Myths in Stone. Göbeklitepe and the world of the last hunters) will take visitors to an 11,000-year-old cult site, the Turkish World Heritage Site of Göbekli Tepe. ‘The Scharf Collection – Goya – Monet – Cézanne – Bonnard – Grosse’ is the first exhibition to show the complete German private collection of French art from the 19th and 20th centuries as well as contemporary works.

The current program and further information will be available here soon.
